Translation is one of the oldest professions and has been an important factor in the development of the human knowledge. Without the translation of literary works, from ancient Greek and Latin classics to modern prose and poetry from across the world, we would not be able to enjoy literature, to read and learn from experiences by writers in other parts of the world. This thesis focuses on literary translation. It aims to produce a faithful translation into Spanish of four selected chapters of the nonfiction novel Wolf Boys: Two American Teenagers and Mexico's Most Dangerous Drug Cartel published by Dan Slater in 2016. The source text is a hybrid that combines elements of biography, narrative, expository and journalistic writing. In addition to the actual translation, the study presents a summary of translation theory and history as well as a short analysis of the decisions taken during the translation process. The objective of this project is not only to produce a faithful translation of the source text, but also to examine the typical problems that translators encounter and analyze the predicaments they face when transferring the original meaning from the source language to the target language.
